Both have four wheels. Each has a steering wheel. They both transport you from point A to point B. They both have headlights, tail lights, a gas pedal and a brake. Each has accommodations for people to sit in comfort while traveling. So what’s the difference between the two cars and why does this apply to creating attorney video?
I’m glad you asked.
The difference is night and day. One is a high-performance sports car. The other is an economical way to get around. Why does this apply to creating attorney video? Simple.
There are video production companies that offer an economical way to create attorney video and charge you a few hundred dollars. Then, there are web video companies that are the “Cadillac” and “Porsches” for creating video for lawyers that will charge you anywhere from $4,000 and up. Which one best fits you and your needs?
Can you get by with a ‘cookie-cutter’ video that uses a template regardless of whether you’re an attorney or a baker? I have seen videos like this, and I have seen video production’ websites that showcase their videos. They all use the same formula, just replace one person and insert another.
With a top-0f-the-line video production company, their goal is to individualize you. Nothing is cookie-cutter about those videos. They also charge top dollar. Are they worth it? Well, let me ask you this question: You can drive the Hyundai and get to work just fine. You can drive your Porsche and also get to work just fine. If you have the ability to choose either car, which would you choose? Which provides the best value for your money? Does image matter to you? As an attorney who wants to create video to show the world what you do, do you think your image matters?
When you give your client a ride home, does it matter to you whether you’re driving a Porsche or a Hyundai? If it doesn’t, then by all means choose the most economical car. If image is everything to you, then you should be driving that Porsche.
When creating attorney video, look beyond the cookie-cutter way of creating video. The entire reason why you use video is to show how you’re different. The only way to do that is to individualize you and your video. In my opinion, having the most basic formula-driven video will not accomplish your goal. Plus, the video company that knows and understands what you do will have a better insight into your work and importantly, understand what an online viewer looks for when searching for an attorney online.
Why wouldn’t you want the experience and knowledge that such a video production company offers compared to a local wedding photographer who is eager to make a few extra dollars by pressing “record” on his camcorder and giving you a bare-bones finished video? The difference is remarkable. I’m not only talking about the quality and technique of the video. I’m also talking about the content. Don’t make the mistake of being ‘penny-wise’ and ‘pound-foolish’. Creating a well-orchestrated video, with an experienced video producer makes all the difference in the world.
Here comes your Porsche now.
