If you don’t know Bob Battle, you should. Bob is a DUI attorney in Virginia who is an amazing lawyer and marketer of his legal services. He’s a solo practitioner, just like me.
I had a chance to talk to Bob after I presented a lecture to a great group of attorneys at MILOfest (Macs in Law Office) seminar in Orlando, Florida last weekend. I was talking about why creating video for lawyers is so important to market their law practice.
Bob was kind enough to express his thoughts about me and my presentation in this short video, which in reality is a wonderful testimonial by Bob. Thank you Bob, for taking the time to tell us what you thought about my presentation.

9 MUST ASK QUESTIONS
1. How long does it take to shoot my video?
2. How many actual video clips will I get as a final product?
3. Do you optimize my videos for the search engines?
4. Is search engine optimization included in the pricing?
5. Do you put my videos onto my blog or website?
6. Do you put my videos on your own website?
7. Do you create a blog post about my new videos?
8. Do you tweet about my new videos?
9. If I want to come back next month and do another series of videos, how much will you charge me?

A title like that definitely sounds too good to be true. But it’s not, when you set up a legal marketing system that works for you 24 hours a day seven days a week.
In this e-mail I’m not going to sell you anything. Nor am I going to convince you to create attorney video. Rather, I’m going to educate you about the benefits of creating video to educate your potential clients. Once you recognize the true benefits of creating an ongoing series of videos you will soon realize that the title of this article is true.
If you create educational and informational video you will clearly do something that 98% of other attorneys are not doing today on the Internet. You already know that I am a big proponent of creating useful information for potential clients who are looking for an attorney online.

You’ve created content for your video. You shot your video. Your video production company edited your video and now it’s finalized and ready to be posted to the video sharing sites. They also agreed to post it to your website…for free! Do they now say “Have a nice day?”
Did your video production company agree to optimize your video so the search engines would index it and make it easy to find? Or did they say “Have a nice day?” Maybe they offered you an ala carte menu where you could pick and choose their video services. If you wanted to have your video search optimized, you’d have to pay extra. Hmm.

Both have four wheels. Each has a steering wheel. They both transport you from point A to point B. They both have headlights, tail lights, a gas pedal and a brake. Each has accommodations for people to sit in comfort while traveling. So what’s the difference between the two cars and why does this apply to creating attorney video?
I’m glad you asked.
The difference is night and day. One is a high-performance sports car. The other is an economical way to get around. Why does this apply to creating attorney video? Simple.

You could say that your Yellow Pages ad works while you sleep. You could also say that your TV ad works while you sleep. You might even be able to say that an article you wrote for your website works while you sleep. However, do any of these marketing tools allow your potential client to get to know you; get to hear you; get to learn from you and begin to trust you 24 hours a day, seven days a week? The answer is no.
How would you like to have your marketing get you calls and clients while you sleep? It sounds almost too good to be true, doesn’t it? And you know what they say about things that sound too good to be true? They usually are. But, what if I could show you how to create a marketing system that would allow you to have your marketing message played at any time of day or night regardless of whether you were in your office?
What would you think if I showed you how you could create a compelling and educational message and you’d pay the same amount of money whether that message is viewed once or 100,000 times? You would think I’m crazy right? Well, I’m happy to say that I’m not. I’m also happy to say that the tools that you can use to create a constant marketing message are available right now for you.

If you are a lawyer, the answer is absolutely, definitively “Yes.”
If someone asks you what you do for a living, do you reply “I’m a personal injury trial lawyer. I handle car accident cases,”or “I’m a bankruptcy attorney,”or “I’m a contracts attorney.”
Well, I’m sorry to inform you that you’re not any of those things. In reality, you’re a marketer of your legal services. As Dan Kennedy says “You are a marketer of whatever it is that you do.” Your job is to market yourself so that others will hire you for their legal needs. How does someone know what a contracts attorney does? How does the layperson know what a transactional attorney do? Most people have no idea.

You’re tired of paying thousands of dollars per year for advertising that gets you little return on your investment. You like having a website since you don’t have to do much to maintain it. You’re now seeing lawyers begin to use video to market their services. You toy with the idea of creating your own video, then realize, “No way will I create video.”
Here’s 9 reasons why you should NOT create video:
1. You don’t like the way you look on video,
2. You don’t like the way your voice sounds,
3. You look too young,
4. You look too old,
5. You have nothing to say,
6. You have something to say, but just don’t know how,
7. You don’t want prospective clients to see you until they walk in your door,
8. You have ugly, disfiguring scars that make you look hideous,
9. You think online viewers don’t watch attorney videos.
