Inside a New York Medical Malpractice Attorney's Office; Video Tour

In this brief video I give you an inside look at my Great Neck, New York office. (I also have satellite offices in New York City, Brooklyn and Staten Island, but wanted you to see where I spend most of my time). This is a never-before seen video of my office. You get to see where I spend most of my day when I’m in my office. In addition, I show you some of the lighting equipment I use to create my videos.

Video Marketing for Lawyers: Admit a Fault

Yes. You read that correctly. In your next video, explain to your viewer a fault you have that may prevent them from coming to your office to hire you.

“What? Why would I do that?”

When you admit a fault, you show you are human. It doesn’t matter if you’re the best lawyer in your state. If you show a ‘human’ side of you, your viewer will likely have more trust in you than if you constantly tell them how incredible and wonderful you are.

Lawyer Video: Why Would Someone Want to Hire You?

You’ve been in practice for a number of years. You have some experience under your belt. You’re still learning, but you’re a go-getter. When a potential client comes into your office and asks why they should hire you instead of your competitor down the street who has more experience than you do, what do you say?

If you’re a solo practitioner, you tell them about your personal attention. If you’re in a mid-sized to large firm, you tell them about all the benefits a larger firm can offer; a virtual all-in-one shop for their legal needs.

Lawyer Video: Getting Noticed on Yom Kippur

I’m sitting in synagogue on Yom Kippur, the holiest day of the Jewish year, when my Rabbi starts talking about the quickest way to get noticed in New York City. He says that walking down the street with a three foot long shofar (an ancient Rams horn used to make a bone-rattling warning sound), will get you noticed. However, he added that people on the street will stop for a moment and then continue on their way, since the novelty of seeing a large Rams horn will not keep their attention very long. He then asked whether he’d get more attention blowing the shofar in Grand Central Station concourse. “Yes, but probably everyone would think he was a freak.”

What does this have to do with creating video for attorneys?

Obstetrical Malpractice & Developmental Delays

You had a difficult delivery and months later are trying to find out why your baby has developmental delays. She’s not reaching her milestones; she isn’t turning over when she’s supposed to; she doesn’t track your movements with her eyes; she can’t hear you very well; she’s not crawling when she’s supposed to, and still isn’t talking. You have questions about why your child is not meeting these developmental milestones. Who do you ask for answers? Are these developmental delays related to problems during your labor and delivery? Are they genetic? Are they normal?

Cardiac Malpractice in New York

Imagine having crushing chest pain and going to your local community Hospital for help. The doctors do the right tests to determine whether or not you are having a heart attack.
After all the tests are finished, you are told you are fine and to follow up with a cardiologist. Three months later you have a massive heart attack that kills off most of your heart.
Watch the video to learn what happened to a young man with these exact facts. Find out what the doctors did wrong and how this cardiac tragedy could have been avoided.

Unrecognized Brain Tumor; New York Medical Malpractice Attorney Explains

Imagine this:

A woman gets into a car accident and has a CAT scan of her head. The radiologist correctly recognizes that there is a tumor in her head but fails to tell the patient about it. Nobody from the hospital ever contacts her about this very important finding.

Seven months go by, and her vision begins to deteriorate. Watch the video to find out what happens.

Caveat Emptor! Lawyers Beware

I recently came across three videos by three different attorneys, all in the same town, produced by the same video company. These three attorneys compete with each other for clients. How do I know? Because like me, they also practice medical malpractice and personal injury law here in New York.

So what’s with the headline in this article?

How Medicare Ruined One Man's Car Accident Case

A young man was hit by a car while crossing the street. He suffered severe injuries including a fractured femur and the need for tracheostomy. He was in the hospital for 3 1/2 weeks and then sent for rehabilitation therapy. He had been receiving Medicare benefits for an unrelated disability, and Medicare paid for his hospital and medical bills. When the family came to me seeking compensation for this young man’s injuries, he had no idea how Medicare would alter the landscape of his potential lawsuit.

Watch the video to find out how Medicare destroyed his chances of recovering any compensation from this car accident, and the injuries he suffered through no fault of his own.

Unrecognized Bowel Perforation-NY Medical Malpractice Attorney Explains

You undergo surgery and after leaving the hospital you have continued complaints of abdominal pain. Thinking it’s normal, you ignore it for a day or two but it continues to get worse. You call your doctor’s office and are told it is normal postoperative pain. Despite taking pain medication and resting, you get weaker, and your pain gets stronger. If you’re lucky, you’ll get to an emergency room to be evaluated.

When the doctors suspect that there is a hole in your bowel, you’ll have to go back into surgery. If the contents of your bowel were leaking from a hole, you’ll likely need to have part of your bowel removed and the remaining bowel sewn together.

The failure to recognize a bowel perforation is often grounds for a medical malpractice lawsuit in New York. If caught early enough, treatment can be effective although prolonged and distasteful. Those unlucky enough to get to a hospital on time, suffer the indignity of death from an unrecognized bowel perforation.
