Don’t you just love contests? They can be fun. They can be exciting especially if the prizes have value. But what’s this thing about the ABA Journal contest for the top 100 blogs? It seems that every year the ABA Journal runs a popularity contest to see who can garner the most votes by being the most popular.

Not only that, but once you are ‘nominated’ you now have to ‘encourage’ your readers, friends and colleagues to vote for you in order to get sufficient votes to push you over the top and beyond your competitors. What’s that about? You now have to campaign to your readers and tell them they have to ‘vote’ for you so you can get a special prize!

What’s the prize? Glad you asked. The winners of this contest get the ‘right’ to display the ABA Journal’s fancy logo that they can install on their website. Pretty neat looking logo. Makes me want to create my own.

All envy aside, this blog, The Lawyers Video Studio, was not nominated. I feel awful. I feel like a kid in the school yard who doesn’t get picked for the “A” team. Actually I don’t feel awful, nor do I feel bad. In fact, I don’t care about the ABA Journal contest. Even if I were nominated I wouldn’t care. Frankly, I don’t need to put a fancy logo from the ABA on my site. I have enough logos, videos, photos and content on my site that I love to write about and my readers love to read.

The only people I need to read and comment on my blog are readers who want to learn about using video to market their law firms. Maybe I’ll run a contest to see who can write the nicest comment on my blog and then create a special logo and award the winner of that contest a nice fancy logo that they can put on their own blog or website. Nah. Instead, I’ll just focus on being the best video producer, video editor and video distributor the legal world has ever seen. (How’s that for patting myself on the back?) The ‘Thank You’ testimonials I receive from my grateful attorney clients are all I need to know I’m helping my fellow attorneys.

Have a great day.

Gerry

You worked hard through law school. You worked hard to pass the bar exam and now you’re out on your own. How cool would it be to receive $12,000 worth of amazing goods and services that will help you propel your practice into the next generation?

That’s exactly what will happen if you win this contest.

I took a look at some of the prizes that are offered for the winner of this contest and was amazed. One of the prizes his personal consultation with me, which has a $750 value. There are other great prizes including a complete website design by Mark Merenda’s SmartMarketingNow.com team, worth $3000 dollars. There’s much more.

I wish that someone had offered me even a fraction of these goods and services when I went out on my own as a solo practitioner. You have nothing to lose, and everything to gain. Take a look at the contest information and submit your entry immediately to be considered.
