  • John Roberts says:

Gerry, your 2013 address is the best yet. Why is it taking us so long to realize that it’s content, content, content that people want, and that compelling content is what they will respond to.

In addition to those schlock TV type production companies you spoke of, I am amazed that marketing companies are still able to sell attorneys on the idea that they can tweek attorney websites and attract paying clients by planting key words and phrases in the site. I guess that might help if there is already genuine content on the site. But I attended a bar association lunch several weeks ago, and a marketing firm pitched the idea that they could drive viewers to the attorney websites with no mention of what people might see when they landed there (Content was not in their service offering). You wouldn’t believe the prices they were mentioning.

I’m beginning to understand your emphasis on identifying the potential client and the bedrock of content creation. Although essential to keeping a credible image, the professional lighting, editing and graphics you offer are frosting on the content cake.

Every attorney should view your 2013 address at least once. I will be watching it several times during 2014 to keep my vision of as an educator, as well as an attorney.

Thanks for providing us with real purpose as we advance the practice and profession.

  • Thanks John. You’re right…content is still the biggest attraction factor. Give people what THEY want, not what you want to give them.

Gerry, We were so happy to finally meet you. We thought that we knew a thing or two about using video in our law practice until we discovered you.
You are the man. Meeting you last week prompted us to completely rethink our video strategy AND we decided that we weren’t doing nearly enough. You light a fire under our butts!
We are now back in Seattle and refocusing and redoubling our video marketing efforts! Thanks Gerry!
