“Oh, That’s Way Too Much Money…” said an attorney who was interested in video marketing

moneyI had just finished speaking to a great group of smart lawyers at the Bellagio Hotel in Las Vegas as part of a legal marketing event being given the day before the Mass Torts seminar was to start.

Immediately after my talk, one attorney approached me and wanted to know what it would cost to participate in my 50 video program.

He didn’t want to hear about all the features and benefits of my program. 

He didn’t want to learn about all that we do, compared to all the other video companies.

He didn’t want to find out why I’m the only trial lawyer in the country who helps other lawyers create video to market their law firms.

Instead, like going into a jewelry store and looking at a ring, he just wanted a price.

So, I gave him my price.

He was shocked. “That’s way too much money!” he exclaimed.

I replied “How do you know that? What do you have to compare it to?”

He didn’t have an answer. I asked him if he had priced out what his investment would be if he used other video companies. He said “No.”

I then bluntly asked him how he knew what was the value of the service I provided.

He sort of admitted that he had no clue.

“What you’re saying is that it wouldn’t have matter if I quoted you a price 50% higher or 20% lower. You have absolutely nothing to compare it to, right?” I asked.

“I guess you’re right,” he sheepishly replied.

This guy was a savvy attorney who handled lots of mass torts cases and defective products. Yet for someone who was so smart, his way of deciding what was and wasn’t cost effective for his law firm was hampered by the fact that he knew nothing about what we offered and had absolutely nothing to compare it to.

I have personally found that lawyers who understand what we do recognize immediately that we’re not just some video production guys who shoot and upload a video. We’re much different…
