It’s Not What You Say in Your Attorney Videos, It’s How You Make Them Feel; That’s What They Remember

Our ideal clients and consumers who watch our attorney videos truly will not remember the details of what you say.

Instead, they will remember how you make them feel.

That’s a very important distinction.

You can tell them all the information that you think they need to know, but they will walk away remembering only a small fraction of that.

Why is that?

The answer is simple.

They are still in search and find mode. They don’t know all the right questions to ask. They don’t know how their particular matter works. They have a lot of unanswered questions and are looking for information to help solve their legal problem.

  • A viewer will remember immediately how confident you are.
  • A viewer will remember how educated you are about your particular topic.
  • A viewer will remember how you made them feel by presenting yourself with poise and and how concise you were.
  • A viewer will remember that you were talking directly to them.
  • A viewer will remember how you connected with them on their level through your video.
  • A viewer will remember that you spoke to them in simple, easy-to-understand language that did not involve lots of lawyerly fancy words.

When you are successful and win a client’s legal matter, if you ask your client whether they are satisfied with the result, they will always tell you how they feel. But they will not remember the details and struggles that occurred to wrap up their litigation.

They will not remember the advice you provided to them during the years leading up to your success. Instead, they will look back and see how you made them feel throughout the lawsuit process.

They will remember how you made them feel when you called them every month to check in on them. They will remember how they felt after getting a call from you when they underwent a surgical procedure and you were calling to see how they were feeling.

They will remember how they felt when you dropped by their house to see how they interacted with family members on a day-to-day basis.

Your clients and consumers will always remember how you made them feel.

Pay attention to that concept since it will help you in creating great quality video and great educational attorney videos to market yourself and your law firm.

By the way, what you say always matters. However, what your clients feel is much more important.

Gerry – I can’t thank you enough for guiding me through what would have been a disaster had anyone but you been behind the camera. My power point slides somehow disappeared from my laptop when using the hotel wireless internet … or maybe it was my “fat finger.” In any event, I knew the stuff because I had been giving public seminars on the content for years. But I tend to freeze without a visual cue. So, without visual cues, the day could well have been a huge disaster. While my practice niche is Elder Law, not PI or MedMal, you were like a football or basketball coach; despite my usual stumbles without visual cues, you were successful in getting me to go beyond the stumbles to a successful video shoot. Many thanks for your coaching!
