3 Things You Must Know When Hiring a Video Company to Shoot Your Legal Marketing Video

Who is your video producer  who will be helping you create your content?

  2. Have the videos you created generated calls to the attorneys office?

  3. Have those videos generated profit for the law firm?

Don’t be seduced into thinking that a video producer who has won different awards understands who your ideal client is. Just because a video company has won awards for their special effects, graphics and videos unrelated to lawyer advertising, doesn’t necessarily mean that they can create compelling video messages for you and your ideal clients.

I am consciously amazed that lawyers routinely ignore items #2 and #3 above when deciding on which video company to hire. Instead, they’re focused on the price of the investment.

Most attorneys simply want to know how many videos they get for “X” dollars. Then they calculate the cost per video. The problem with doing that is that you are lumping all video companies into a simple video production commodity.

The reality is that most video companies are commodities. They vie for your business by promising the lowest pricing possible.

The reality is that it is easier than ever to create great quality video today using the most advanced and smallest video equipment. It has become so easy that even our kids routinely create video and upload it to YouTube.

When looking at buying dishwashing detergent or cereal, those are real commodities that you can easily price shop. You know what the brand is. You know the size. You know the flavor. You know how much your grocery store sells it for. You also know that you can buy it at Wal-Mart for less money.

The reality is that video companies are not all alike.

Most of those companies are simply production companies which means they shoot video, technically edit them in and put them up online. They produce video.

Now, there’s nothing wrong with a technically proficient video company that can do that well.

However, there’s a big difference between a video production company and a video marketing company.

First, if the person who is helping you create your videos, known as a video producer, is not an attorney, how do they know what content and information your viewers need and want?

  • How much time does the video company actually spend with you helping you prepare your content?
  • How do they help you prepare your content?
  • What do they have you focus on?
  • How much time do you need to invest in order to prepare?

I know video companies who simply tell the attorneys “Just show up and we will ask you some FAQ’s. You already know the answers to these so you don’t need to prepare.”

I know other companies tell the attorney to come prepared with frequently asked questions.

What they are really doing is having the attorney come up with their own ideas about what they believe their viewers want to know.

On the other hand, here in the Lawyers Video Studio,  preparation is the most important part of creating your videos. Just like you would never go to trial without full and thorough preparation, the same exact thing can they said for creating videos with me.

Every attorney who participates with me here in the Lawyers Video Studio is required to have a mastermind call in order to plan out your great content. Depending upon the program, this brainstorming call lasts either 30 minutes or one hour.

During this mastermind call I explore with you the mindset of your viewers and give you specific ideas for content. We also explore what to do and importantly what not to do.

Anyone can create a video and throw it up online.

That’s not what we are about. Unlike other video companies we are a true marketing company designed to help you succeed and give you helpful strategies tips and ideas on how to use your videos in ways that these other video companies simply don’t use.

If you would like to learn 3 video marketing strategies that will help you immediately,  I encourage you to call me and I’ll be happy to share that with you.

Finally, as an attorney who’s looking for the best company to help you create your great educational video content, you need to ask every video company whether the videos they have created generated calls, valid cases and profit for the attorney.

If not, why would you ever consider hiring a company that can’t show you results?

As of today, I have personally created over 1400 videos to market my solo practice here in NY. I have had the privilege of helping lawyers across the country create over 3500 videos to market their law firms. My own videos have generated valid calls and valid cases that resulted in $8.6 million in settlements over the past eight years. See if any other video company in the country can say the same. (They can’t.)

Gerry, We were so happy to finally meet you. We thought that we knew a thing or two about using video in our law practice until we discovered you.
You are the man. Meeting you last week prompted us to completely rethink our video strategy AND we decided that we weren’t doing nearly enough. You light a fire under our butts!
We are now back in Seattle and refocusing and redoubling our video marketing efforts! Thanks Gerry!
