PILMMA-Legal Marketing Seminar; Atlanta

PILMMA is a legal marketing group run by a really smart and savvy North Carolina attorney, Ken Hardison. Last year Ken invited me to speak at his seminar in North Carolina on Video Marketing for attorneys.

This year was a little different. We were going to show the attorneys what we do, and not just tell them about what we do. We literally rolled out the red carpet and created a mini-video studio at the seminar. We gave each attorney the opportunity to shoot a free marketing video with me so they could experience, first-hand, what it was like to shoot video with me.

I met some incredibly nice and wonderful people. Lawyers from across the country who handled social security disability to personal injury to criminal defense. They all came to learn the newest legal marketing tips and strategies to market their law firms.

The day started off with Howard Spiva, a practicing personal injury trial lawyer from Savannah, Georgia who is a whirlwind of a marketing expert. I learned quite a bit from him today. I listened to social media expert Cindy Speaker from Pennsylvania and from Dale Tincher, CEO of ConsultWebs who always has useful information about creating attorney websites. I then listened to super-fast talking Nick Nanton, the Celebrity Branding Expert, and Conrad Saam, marketing director for Avvo.

In addition to the speakers, talking to the attorneys was eye-opening. Learning what’s working and what’s not in their practice reveals a common theme. Everyone recognizes that becoming obsolete is not an option. Our chosen profession of practicing law simply requires us to adapt. The lawyers who learn to change are the ones who stay ahead of the curve.
