Lawyers: How to Use Video to Convert an Online Viewer

First I will tell you how you shouldn’t do it.

Then, I’ll explain how you should do it.

Ok, I’ve got your attention now. Do NOT used typical lawyer cliches, “INJURED? CALL ME,” “Free consultation,” “No fee, no recovery.” Stop being a video message for those trite yellow pages and TV ad phrases. They get you nowhere.

Do NOT use your video to sell your message or sell yourself. “Why not?” Because a viewer does not care about you. Plain and simple.

Instead, use video to explain a problem you see every day in your legal practice.

“Are you tired of having creditors call you at all hours of the day and night? Here’s one simple step that will get them to stop calling you cold…” Then tell them what that step is. Simple, right? Give them useful information that will help solve a problem.

How does your video then convert a website visitor into a potential client? Simple.

You’ve now given that viewer useful information. I guarantee that if that viewer had that  problem involving creditors, their problem will not go away. Now they’ll have another problem, or another question that you don’t exactly answer on your website or in your video. What do they do? They will raise their hand and ASK you for more information. You are now the de facto “expert” because you’ve given them information they couldn’t find anywhere else.

Warning: Make sure you are not giving legal advice and that you constrain your information to what your State ethics rules permit you to do.

By explaining, you now become the trusted resource for information. What do potential clients want and need? Information. Using video to provide that information is the best way to do that.
