Bicyclist Clocked Doing 93.4 mph!

It’s true! I saw it myself and I couldn’t believe it when I saw it.

Today, I finished a beautiful 13 mile bike ride along the back roads of Great Neck, Long Island. As I was getting ready to put my bike away, I checked the stats on my bicycle computer, also known as a cyclometer.  The average speed looked good, the distance was 13 miles, the total mileage on my bike was normal, but then I got to the maximum speed I achieved during this ride. What I saw blew me away. The computer read my top speed as 93.4 mph. I kid you not. In fact, the actual picture of the readout appears to the left here.

When I first saw it, I said  “This must be a mistake.” I scrolled through the other stats for my ride, and everything else look normal. I came back again to the top speed readout and was shocked to see that it still read 93.4 mph. At that moment I mentally scanned my entire ride in my mind to see how it could be possible that I achieved a speed never before accomplished on a hybrid road bicycle. Despite replaying the route in my mind, I could find only one area of the road in Kings Point that had a downhill ride that would give me any real speed. In the past, the top speed I have ever achieved on this route was about 28 mph.  I knew I did not pedal my way to 93.4 mph. Simply impossible on a bicycle, and clearly life-threatening.

So what does all this have to do with creating video for attorneys?

A lot. When you read articles about different web production companies and what they offer you, don’t be so quick to accept the hype and their promises. Instead, look carefully to see what exactly they offer when they produce your video. Find out who actually produces the video; whether it’s a lawyer or someone with TV or film experience.  Learn how long your video shoot takes and what you actually get for your money. Look to see what they do after they’ve created your video and whether they provide added value. Do they blast that video to the video sharing sites and optimize your video as well? If they don’t, ask  “Why not?”

The next time you see a bicyclist pass you by doing 93.4 mph, take a look again and make sure that wasn’t a rocket ship that just whizzed by.

Thanks for taking the time to read my blog. Have a great day.
